After 63 days of gestation, a rare Sand Cat Kitten was born at Israel’s Zoological Center Tel Aviv Ramat Gan - Safari. Once plentiful in numbers in the dunes of Israel, the Sand Cat has become extinct in the region. This is Safari Zoo’s first successful Sand Cat birth and it is hoped this kitten will join Israel’s Sand Cat Breeding Program in order to help reintroduce the species into the wild.

About a year ago, my roommates and I were alerted to a cat that had been hiding outside for nearly two weeks in the exact same spot. When I picked him up, he was literally nothing but flesh and bones (hence the name), so weak he couldn’t stand up on his own.

Fast forward one year, and we have a healthy, now ironically chubby little dude named Bones who is in need of a home. While our landlord is fairly tolerable of us having more animals than we are technically allowed, they have decided not to renew our apt lease, leaving us to be at the whim of them randomly raising our rent if they choose or to find a new place which will undoubtedly not be as tolerant, and we already had 4 other animals before we took him in. We’ve contacted all possible no-kill shelters, but our city has a chronic stray cat problem, so they are pretty much full all year round. Our only choices are to either find him a new forever home or to take him to the pound when we move out.

We also suspect he was abused badly and possibly dumped by his former owner; while not violent or aggressive, he’s fairly shy and nervous around loud noises or quick movement. But once he’s gotten used to people, he loves to cuddle up on the bed or nuzzle you for petting. He’s one of the loudest purring cats I’ve honestly ever heard! So we really want to find him a quiet, loving home that will be less stressful than our small place with our own animals, who kinda freak him out with their playfulness.

If you are in the Columbus, Ohio area and want a FREE cat or know someone who does, PLEASE send me (queenqueso), or my roommates (stealyourshiny or reanimatrix) a message. We’re willing to work with people who are out of town or even out of state!

He IS fixed, has NO diseases or conditions, and has been a good cat while hanging out with us.

signal bump for this cutie. someone pick him up and love him!
